WMA provided MEP/FP Systems design for this new 48,000 square foot building located at 1400 W. Washington St. in Chicago. This facility is a new training center for the Plumber’s Trust Fund for Apprenticeship and Journeyman Education and Training, Local 130.
The new building is four stories and features a three-story workshop with a wood-frame model home and an underground pit, which will simulate underground plumbing construction
Also included in the design is a learning center that incorporates technologies such as greywater harvesting and solar-vacuum-tube water heaters. The building will also feature several classrooms that will be used to teach plumbing code, welding, cutting, soldering and brazing. These spaces will allow students to apply concepts learned in the classroom in a real world simulation.
