WMA served as the engineering consultant for this phased renovation of an eight-story academic and office building. One of three original buildings that composed NU’s downtown campus, Wieboldt Hall houses the School of Continuing Studies. The project included new infrastructure throughout the building to support the phased renovation. WMA enabled the replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems with updated, efficient systems for new, state-of-the-art classrooms and collaboration spaces. The Wieboldt Hall project earned a LEED Gold rating under the Commercial Interiors program because WMA maximized sustainable features, such as energy-efficient fluorescent lighting fixtures with programmable dimming and low voltage controls. In addition, the new plumbing fixtures reduced water consumption and sewage.
