WMA was a key design team member for 3COM/U.S. Robotics’ national expansion for more than a decade. One of our major assignments involved the renovation and expansion of 400,000 square feet in Rolling Meadows. The expansion added more than 100,000 square feet to the facility. WMA replaced all existing building systems which included corporate offices, training and conference space, Network Operation Center, call center, laboratories, and employee amenities such as a fitness center, and retail and dining spaces.

In Salt Lake City, WMA designed a 155,000 square foot facility. This building contained 12 manufacturing lines, 35,000 square feet of manufacturing support offices, a telecommunications hub and corporate business offices.

WMA also provided services for the total renovation of an 800,000 square foot facility in Mount Prospect. It involved full MEP/FP and Telecommunications design services, including 200,000 square feet of office and laboratory space, a global telecommunications hub, a manufacturing floor with capacity for 22 manufacturing lines, product testing, quality control and warehouse facilities. The office and laboratory space was utilized by general administrative staff, a sales force, a customer service division, and primarily the Research and Development group and the Product Integrity team, among others. The entire building’s voice/communications systems and manufacturing lines were networked. WMA’s designs for the voice/communications systems had to meet strict client standards to provide high levels of customer needs.
